You down with RG3? Yeah you know me!

I'm not saying this to jump on the Robert Griffin III bandwagon because I've been watching this horse gallop along since his freshman year at Baylor. Wouldn't have noticed or cared if it wasn't for my friend Jared Maier who was an alum of the Bears. He told me they signed a recruit who was a track star with a cannon for an arm. We all know how most of these guys eventually turn up in the NFL. Jamarcus Russell, Vince Young, Pat White, DJ Shockley, Aaron Brooks and the list goes on with names you might have never heard of. These guys were college studs and at one time or another they were productive passers, but never could they be consistent in The League.
What makes RG3 different? Why can he be one of the successful where so many have failed? That's simple, he's a student of the game as well as a phenomenal athlete. Its one thing to have superior athleticism over your opponent but if you can obtain a mental edge over them as well, you may be unstoppable. I see RG3 as a combination of Cam Newton's athleticism, Tim Tebow's mental toughness, and Arron Rodger's field awareness. If you play NCAA Football or Madden, RG3 is the prototypical QB you try to create.
Don't get me wrong, he has a lot of learning to do and will go through some difficulty this season. I just feel that he will last. As a football fan all you have to do is answer the question, you down with RG3?

Olympics, here we go...

I have always been a fan of what the Olympics stands for. Competition on the global stage is great for society. It builds patriotism for your country and you get to know a little bit about other countries. Even people that don't generally care for or watch sports tend to gather with family and friends in front of their TV's to cheer on their favorite countries.

For some reason this year, I'm not as excited. In the 2008 Beijing games, the story lines seemed to be much more compelling. The ReDeem Team, Michael Phelps quest for 8 gold, or Usain's rise were all my personal favorites. I just don't see the excitement this year. I wish I could get into it but as of right now it's just not happening. Also I'd like to see London top Beijing's opening ceremony. Either way, I hope it's a huge success and we use it as a stress reliever from the many problems facing our world today.

An outlet for my rants

I have never considered myself an accomplished writer or speaker. But what I do know is sports. It has been the major determining factor in more than 70% of my life's decisions. Every now and then I hear a sports story that urks me. I end up just yelling at the TV or computer and it does my opinions no justice. I'm pretty much going to use this blog as a way of expressing my thoughts about a lot of different sport stories, with a few movie reviews here and there. If you find any grammatical errors, feel free to suck my balls. Hahaha! But seriously, I don't care. Hopefully I can get some feedback on the topics at hand and maybe get into some friendly bickering. I'll try my best not to disrespect you and if I do, I usually will recognize it and apologize.
