Mavs Trade Rumors

I'm going to be honest. I've been a terrible Mavs Fanatic this season. Like most people in the DFW area when the season began, I was still riding high on the championship of 2011. Didn't really know who was the team's starting lineup but didn't care too much because by February 21st at 2pm (CT), Mark Cuban would have pulled some magic to leave the team in good hands. Now I'm getting a bit scared. I did some number crunching  to see what could work and put a few scenerios together. Here we go...

1. We Want Dwight

Honestly there's no perfect scenrio to get Dwight. I'm not too familiar with the new CBA rules but I've heard a sign and trade deal would be a little difficult. Nevetheless, whatever needs to be done to get Dwight Howard here we need to do it because it will make Dirk a healthier, more prolific scorer and ultimately a happier person. Let's say Mavs do make a trade for Dwight and he ends up signing with Brooklyn after this season. Mavs lose very little from this season. For once this season they may actually be exciting to watch and they still have money to sign high profile stars through free agency.

2. Brandon Jennings for O.J. Mayo

The Bucks are desperate and need to get rid of Jennings or Monta Ellis. For the Bucks this is an appealing deal because if they get Mayo they'll have him under contract for another season and have another year to decide which direction they want their franchise to go. For Mayo he can be a true SG and have Monta run the offense. For the Mavs, they get a proven court general and a better pick and roll player in Jennings. If this is a scenerio that the Mavs are looking at, they also need to have Darren Collison on the block, because his use would be limited.

3. Josh Smith and Zaza Pachulia for Elton Brand and Shawn Marion or Vince Carter

This is more of a reach than the other scenerios. Although doable, I think a lot more has to go into consideration when making a deal like this on. If the Mavs are going to continue with Chris Kaman then they may need a tougher big man than Pachulia. Making a deal for Josh Smith would mean unloading Vinsanity and/or the Matrix. Smith and Mayo could flourish together in the future but all parties must be committed to each other.

These scenrios are all just one fan's dreams of putting together another run at the championship. If Mark Cuban wants to make a deal happen he will. I know that he will do what he feels is right for the Mavs organization. But just know that Nowitzki's time is coming to a close and I will like to see him go out a happy Maverick.
